Thyristor (thyristor) module installation instructions

December 17, 2018

Thyristor (thyristor) module instructions for use:

First, the use of conditions and precautions:

1, the use of the environment should be no severe vibration and impact, the environmental media should be no corrosion of metal and damage the insulation impurities and atmosphere.

2. Module junction working temperature: SCR is -40°C∽125°C; ambient temperature must not be higher than 40°C; ambient humidity is less than 86%.

3, the module must be equipped with a radiator before use, radiator selection see next section. Cooling can be natural cooling, forced air cooling or water cooling. When forced to cool, the wind speed should be greater than 6 m⁄seconds.

Second, installation precautions:

1. Because the MTC thyristor module is insulated (that is, the insulation voltage between the module terminals and the copper backplane is greater than 2.5KV effective value), it is possible to install multiple modules on the same heat sink or the grounding device of the device. on.

2. The surface of the radiator should be flat and smooth, with no scratches, bumps or debris. Radiator surface finish should be less than 10μm.

When the modules are mounted on the heat sink, a thin layer of thermal grease should be applied between their contact surfaces. Before applying grease, remove the oxide layer on the contact surface of the radiator with fine sandpaper, then wipe the surface clean with absolute ethanol to make the contact well so as to reduce the thermal resistance.

When the module is fastened to the surface of the heat sink, use M5 or M6 screws and spring washers, and tighten the screws with 4NM moments

The connection with the main electrode of the module should use copper strips, and have a smooth and flat contact surface, so that the contact is good. After 3 hours of module operation, each screw must be tightened again.

Module heat sink selection

When users choose the heat sink, they must consider the following factors:

1 Module operating current size to determine the required cooling area;

2 The use environment, according to which you can determine what cooling method to take - natural cooling, forced air cooling, or water cooling;

3 The shape and volume of the device and the size of the space reserved for the heat sink can be used to determine the shape of the heat sink.

In general, most users will choose aluminum radiators. For the convenience of users, the required heat dissipation area is given in the characteristic parameter table for all types of modules produced by our company. This area is a reference value when the module is operating at full capacity and forced air cooling.

The following formula is given for the length of the radiator:

The required cooling area of the module = (radiator circumference) × (radiator length) + (cross-sectional area) × 2

Among them, the required cooling area of the module is the reference value given in the characteristic parameter table of the module. The perimeter and cross-sectional area of the radiator can be found in the radiator manufacturer's sample, and the length of the radiator is the quantity to be obtained.
